Hiking on the Schmittenhöhe - the Highlight

Breathtaking view of the lake Zeller See

A perfect panoramic view is guaranteed!

At about 2,000 m above sea level is the Pinzgauer Walk. It is one of the most beautiful high-altitude trails in the Eastern Alps with breathtaking views of the peaks of the Hohe Tauern. First you take the Schmittenhöhebahn to the top, then the well-marked high-altitude trail leads you in a westerly direction - past Kettingtörl, Kettingkopf, Kesselscharte, Rohrertörl, Kammscharte, Klingler Törl, Medalscharte, Sommertor and over the Murauer Scharte to the Bürglhütte in Stuhlfelden.

Throughout the tour, the Salzach Valley, which is about 1,000 meters lower, spreads out at your feet. Above it, well-known peaks such as the Großglockner, the Kitzsteinhorn, the Granatspitze, the Sonnblick and the Großvenediger rise into the air. The trail is about 25 km long (without descent).

Good physical condition, suitable footwear and a certain degree of surefootedness are absolutely necessary for this hike.

Pinzgau experience on the Schmittenhöhe

Schmidolins World of Adventure is the adventure playground on the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See in Salzburger Land. The adventure world is specially designed for families with children and offers numerous play and adventure opportunities in the midst of nature. The highlight of the adventure world is the interactive treasure hunt, where the children go on a search for the hidden treasure together with Schmidolin, the mascot of the Schmittenhöhe. In the process, they have to solve various puzzles and overcome obstacles.
The adventure world also features an adventure playground with climbing frames, slides and swings, as well as a tree house trail that leads through the forest. Here, the children can demonstrate their skills and creativity at various stations.

Another highlight is the Flying Fox, a rope slide that leads across the forest and offers an unforgettable experience. In Schmidolins World of Adventure, children can also experience animals up close, for example in the petting zoo corner or during a falconry demonstration. The adventure world can be reached from the mountain station of the Schmittenhöhebahn and can also be visited with a stroller. A certain level of physical fitness is required for the treasure hunt and the tree house trail, otherwise most of the attractions are suitable for all age groups.
